Christina McGhee, internationally acclaimed divorce coach and parent educator, has devoted her career to helping children and families successfully manage the challenges of divorce. She firmly believes that children should not just “survive” divorce but also be provided with opportunities to thrive.

For over a decade, Christina has educated parents with a “child focused” approach through teaching court mandated parenting classes to divorcing parents in Texas and designing specialized programs for both parents and children internationally. Together with the UK family lawyer organization, Resolution, Christina hopes to revolutionize the divorce process for British families. In 2008, Christina authored the parenting booklet, Separation and Divorce, Helping Parents to Help Children, which has been published by Resolution as a part of their Parenting After Parting initiative. She has addtionally worked with the family law organzation to launch parenting workshops in six pilot region throughout England in 2009.

Dubbed “the divorce coach,” Christina’s work has been highlighted by many publications and gained international attention for her participation in the 2006 British Channel 4 series “How to Divorce Without Screwing up Your Kids.” As a professional speaker and trainer, she also educates family lawyers, mental health counselors, and mediators internationally.

As a coach, Christina works directly with parents to help them focus on being the best parent they can be. In addition to maintaining a private practice, she hosts an online resource for parents, www.divorceandchildren.com and has co-produced the award winning children’s DVD and workbook program, “Lemons 2 Lemonade: How to handle life when things go sour between Mom and Dad.” It reinforces for children that even when parents choose to live apart, your family is still your family, just in a different way. In all facets of her work, Christina challenges children and families to use difficult situations and life circumstances as a catalyst for positive change in their lives. She not only teaches that philosophy but also works very hard to live by it. Christina, who has been married for over fifteen years, also grew up in a divorced family and later became a stepparent. Together she and her husband, Scott have four wonderful children. Christina feels her personal experiences have significantly contributed to her belief that families can redefine themselves in meaningful ways following divorce.

Currently Christina is finalizing her upcoming book, Parenting Apart, scheduled for release in 2010 by Penguin Books.
